Year 8 MFL Curriculum Options 2024-25

Year 7 students will opt for either French or Spanish in Year 8 and have lessons in their chosen language.

Focusing on one language will be beneficial as it allows students to develop the skills and knowledge required to succeed in French or Spanish in more depth, which we hope they will in turn continue to study at GCSE.

We are not able to offer after-school sessions at this time. Previously, less than 2% of students have opted for two language GCSEs. This is due to the range of new subjects available in KS4.

Can I still take a subject at GCSE if I didn’t take it in Year 8/9?

The language you take in Year 8/9 is the only language option available at GCSE.
